ICAR's site has
e-course for most subjects taught in ICAR institutes. Instructions for accessing these online/offline are also available as help guides on ICAR's site.
Quiz can be accessed by anyone offline but not online as registration is required (which I think is offline and happens through institutes). For offline access ICAR has packed their e-course site separately for each course in compressed RAR files. These RAR files contains software like Mozilla Firefox(web browser), Sumatra pdf reader, miniserver XOOPS(web server) etc. To view the site offline one needs a windows computer.
Accessing online E-courseware:
- Click on your field then deartment and lastly the course you want to access.
- Next you can click on the course you are intersted in.
Quiz can only be accesssed if you are registered.
Accessing E-courseware offline:
- Contents of RAR file available at ICAR's site needs to be downloaded and extracted. WinRAR or other software like it for e.g. 7zip,WinMount will be required.
- I know three ways to access the courseware the one mentioned by ICAR is:
- Going inside the folder with name of courseware and double clicking StartPortableApps.exe which lauches the app that looks like Windows XP's start menu.
- In there a single click on Moodle Start will launch mozilla firefox in which the offline version of ICAR's site will open.(first time windows security alert will ask you to allow access which you can deny or allow does not matter).
- When accessing the site you will need to login with username "admin" and password "admin" without quotes.
- When you are done you can just close firefox and StartPortableApps.exe.
- The second way is where you can just double click on "name of course\PortableApps\Poodle\MoodleStart" directly and Mozilla Firefox will open.
- The other method is:
- To double click "name of course\PortableApps\mini_server_21_xoops\server_start.bat"
- This will start the web server and the site can be accessed by going to link localhost:8101/moodle in any web browser.
- When you are done you can double click on "name of course\PortableApps\mini_server_21_xoops\server_stop.bat". You need to do this before you access another subjects e-course.
If you get error like
Can't connect to Database it probably happened because the program did not start correctly. For me just restarting it mostly works or using the 3rd method/4th step for accessing quiz even then I sometimes have to stop and then start the server again.
